We are a district who uses the AESOP sub calling system which allows our substitute teachers to go online and actively participate in planning their substitute teaching calendar.

 

Those applying to be a substitute teacher for the first time in McHenry County will need to obtain a Substitute Teacher Authorization from the McHenry Regional Office of Education.  

You should apply online and MUST stop in the office at 6809 McCullom Lake Rd, Wonder Lake, IL
 to pick up a packet of paperwork.  When you pick up your packet of paperwork, you should inform the secretary that you have completed your application online, and provide the secretary with your name.

Your application and paperwork will be reviewed, and you will be notified if you have been selected for a Substitute Teaching position at Harrison School District 36. Filling out an application and submitting a packet of paperwork does not automatically qualify you for a Subsitute Teaching position at Harrison.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.

  2. Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.

  3. Ensure that district policies are observed during all activities.

  4. Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

  5. Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times. 

  6. Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures.  Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.

  7. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  8. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances.  Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.

  9. Remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.

  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

  3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

  4. Leave detailed notes for teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
  5. Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or the Substitute Office
