What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant position at Hartford Elderly Services LLC?
Personal Care Assistant (PCA) & PCA Live-In must have experience in assisting clients with tasks that the individual would typically do for him/herself in the absence of a disability. Such tasks may be performed at home or in the community. This position entitles hands-on clients.
Such services may include physical or verbal assistance to the client in accomplishing any:
Activity of Daily Living (ADL):
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Eating/Feeding
- Grooming
- Mobility/Walking
- Toileting/Bowel and bladder care
- Transferring
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL):
- Cueing/Reminders for self-medication administration
- Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Meal Preparation/Planning
- Shopping
Other:
- Accompany to appointments
- Conversation
- Errands
- Mail/Correspondence
- Telephone use
Requirements:
- Must exhibit mature, responsible behavior, and understand the need for patient confidentiality.
- Impeccable written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to follow direction and accurately report to the agency’s Care Coordinator or Supervisor any changes in client’s condition.
- Must have own vehicle, car insurance, car registration, and valid CT. Driver’s License. Unless, client doesn’t required a caregiver with a vehicle in which case they can use the bus line or any other means of transportation.
- Experience and knowledge working with patients who have chronic and acute conditions
- Ability to problem solve quickly
- Must be CNA or PCA certified. Certificate or license must be presented during interview. If not CNA or PCA certified, must undergo an intensive training for the current position as a PCA. Live-in are also required this training.
