Automation Engineer - Metallics Casting

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to help scale up our advanced manufacturing systems. You’ll take full ownership of electromechanical systems used in the casting of high-performance nickel superalloy components for aerospace and defense. Expect to work directly with materials scientists, operators, and fellow builders to debug, iterate, and deploy production-grade solutions.

This is not a backseat role — you'll be directly responsible for keeping machines online, inventing better processes, and helping turn one-off prototypes into scalable systems. The factory is your playground.

What You’ll Do

• Design and qualify new automated production equipment and subsystems
• Own debugging and root-cause analysis for equipment issues on the line
• Experiment with machine parameters to drive yield, throughput, and uptime
• Collaborate with materials teams to integrate novel processes and inputs
• Get hands-on — microcontrollers, PLCs, motor controllers, sensors, fabrication

You Should Have

• 2–4 years of professional experience in mechatronics, robotics, or hardware
• Strong grasp of electrical mechanical systems integration
• Comfort working with PLCs, motor drivers, and embedded systems
• Demonstrated initiative in past roles — clubs, personal projects, startup work
• A willingness to roll up your sleeves, including occasional weekend work
• Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
