What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Engineer - Metallics Casting position at Hatched Recruitment Group?
Join a high-velocity team reinventing how America builds precision aerospace hardware. They are developed proprietary tech that’s cutting lead times from years to days — and now we’re scaling production. If you’ve ever debugged a flaky PLC at midnight or stayed late to finish a prototype because it mattered, we want to talk.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to help scale up our advanced manufacturing systems. You’ll take full ownership of electromechanical systems used in the casting of high-performance nickel superalloy components for aerospace and defense. Expect to work directly with materials scientists, operators, and fellow builders to debug, iterate, and deploy production-grade solutions.
This is not a backseat role — you'll be directly responsible for keeping machines online, inventing better processes, and helping turn one-off prototypes into scalable systems. The factory is your playground.
What You’ll Do
- Design and qualify new automated production equipment and subsystems
- Own debugging and root-cause analysis for equipment issues on the line
- Experiment with machine parameters to drive yield, throughput, and uptime
- Collaborate with materials teams to integrate novel processes and inputs
- Get hands-on — microcontrollers, PLCs, motor controllers, sensors, fabrication
You Should Have
- 2–4 years of professional experience in mechatronics, robotics, or hardware
- Strong grasp of electrical mechanical systems integration
- Comfort working with PLCs, motor drivers, and embedded systems
- Demonstrated initiative in past roles — clubs, personal projects, startup work
- A willingness to roll up your sleeves, including occasional weekend work
- Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Why Join
- Build for impact – We’re not iterating on 30-year-old tools. You’ll invent new ones.
- Elite team – Work with alumni from top-tier orgs like SpaceX and Tesla.
- Massive demand – Our tech has real customers and real urgency.
- Mission-driven – We're rebuilding American industrial capability, fast.
- Creative freedom – Ownership, autonomy, and the space to think from first principles.
This is a rare chance to help build the backbone of the next generation of aerospace hardware — faster, stronger, and smarter than ever before.
Salary : $130,000 - $200,000
