What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Advocate position at HAVEN, Inc.?
A shelter advocate acts in the best interest of survivors in the sheltering program and also for callers on the 24/7 support line. This person recognizes the survivor as the best expert on their experience and uses approaches and techniques reflective of the survivor’s self-identified needs. The advocate’s job is to increase survivor safety and decrease further victimization by individuals and systems. They provide comprehensive direct services that are culturally competent, trauma-informed and client centered.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 24 per week
Patient demographics:
- Adults
- Children
Schedule:
- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
