POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Kauai Assistant Director, Director of Kūpuna Programs (Oahu) and the VP of Strategy & Programs, the Kauai Kūpuna Programs Coordinator is responsible for implementing and administering all senior-focused initiatives, including the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), Kūpuna Fresh (KF), Kūpuna Produce Program (Kauai County) and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). Responsibilities include caseload management, outreach, compliance, reporting accuracy, and coordinating kūpuna food distributions across the island. The role collaborates with internal teams, state & county partners, volunteers, and community organizations to strengthen equitable access to nutritious food for Kaua‘i’s seniors.

The position requires a team-oriented spirit as well as a “no task too small” attitude that is necessary in a fast-paced environment. Must be flexible and adaptable to a fluid and dynamic environment, and bring a positive, can-do, attitude to daily work challenges. The position prioritizes customer service and collaboration and can balance competing work demands with composure and accountability.

The Kauai Kūpuna Programs Coordinator must demonstrate an active commitment to Hawaii Foodbank’s Mission in all aspects of daily work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Provide coordination and oversight of CSFP, Kūpuna Fresh, Kūpuna Produce Program, SFMNP and any other senior-focused initiative to ensure effective delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit eligible seniors, manage applications, and maintain compliant client lists.
  • Maintain accurate program files, logs, and reporting tools.
  • Coordinate CSFP, Kūpuna Produce Program and KF distributions with internal teams, RSVP volunteers, and community partners.
  • Ensure program compliance with State and Federal guidelines.
  • Assist with administration, data collection, and reporting of grant-funded kūpuna programs.
  • Conduct outreach and education to increase access for underserved kūpuna.
  • Serve as a resource for seniors, caregivers, and partner organizations.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally and participate in disaster preparedness efforts.
  • Coordinate product resourcing to secure kūpuna-suitable foods for each program.

OTHER FUNCTIONS & ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve in a Disaster Response role as outlined in Hawai‘i Foodbank’s Disaster Response Plan, following the Incident Command System (ICS) framework.
  • Provide administrative support to the Kaua‘i Team.
  • Participate in required staff, safety, and departmental meetings, and attend all mandatory training and development sessions.
  • Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment; report any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues immediately.
  • Comply with all food safety, regulatory, and organizational requirements, including AIB, USDA, Hawai‘i DOH, Feeding America, and federal/state policies.
  • Uphold Hawai‘i Foodbank’s mission, vision, and core values in all aspects of work.
  • Assist with community outreach, fundraising activities, and operations as needed.
  • Lead or support special projects, quality initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of college and/or 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Non-profit experience is preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Exceptional analytical skills and strong mathematical ability.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in the problem solving and decision making process; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions; and ability to analyze all aspects of a situation and determine win-win outcomes.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATION

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must obtain the ServSafe Food Safety Manager’s Certification within the first year of employment, as required under the Feeding America Partner Agency Contract.

EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, TOOL, VEHICLES USED

  • Insured personal vehicle
  • Ability to use a computer workstation including keyboard, mouse, printer, fax, and internal phone systems to execute tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Field work requiring driving for off-site sales and service visits with existing and potential business members.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clean driving record, and medical card
  • Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The noise level is moderate to loud at times.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
