What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Fire & Rescue Qualified Assistant position at Haywood Community College?
The mission of the fire and rescue training program is to provide quality training and education opportunities to all levels of fire and rescue personnel in the county. Our purpose is to develop and deliver a wide variety of complex technical, managerial, and developmental training programs for fire and rescue personnel. The Qualified Assistant role will work to ensure integrity and accurate student records.
Program Integrity
- Work with the Fire and Rescue Coordinator to ensure the most up to date materials and methods, as required by external credentialing entities, are being used for classroom and practical instructional methods.
- The QA will serve as the primary proctor for all certification testing.
- Review and update lesson plans prior to course delivery.
- Inspect critical safety equipment associated with fire and rescue training.
- Monitor inventory and supplies
Student Records
- Course audits for ongoing and completed courses for the following:
- Attendance
- Accurate registration information
- Proper instructor documentation
- Course files are complete and accurate
- Records for external agencies are complete and accurate.
- Learn new guidelines and procedures for state and national certification requirements
- Create a student-centered environment for on and off campus students
- Work toward operational excellence; continuous improvement of processes and seek help from advisory committees
- Implement innovative strategies to meet the needs of students and improve processes
- Interact with co-workers and perform tasks with the highest level of integrity
- Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and our learning community
- Promote and support HCC’s mission, vision, and values and promote and support coworkers in the most positive manner.
Required
- Firefighter Level I and II
- Work as a training officer at a fire department
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in Fire and Rescue
