Position Summary
The Manufacturing Manager role will develop and execute proficient manufacturing and assembly of rubber products to meet quality and customer service requirements. The Manufacturing Manager must understand business processes, staffing, productivity, and labor hours. It is a role that requires drive, problem solving, continuous improvement, and the ability to remove barriers. This role reports to the Plant Manager; and is based at the Thermoid Bellefontaine, OH location.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Deploy lean tools, methods and processes that make up the HBD Business System, including Lean Manufacturing and Structured Problem Solving
- Strong communication skills and able to leverage cross-functional resources
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects amid changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and produce results
- Strong leader who actively develops employees to their potential
- Maintain Safety mindset at all times
- Implement continuous improvement strategies that yield sustainable results
- Actively engage with team members at their workplace, to implement improvements at the site
- Facilitate kaizen events and working sessions focused on operational improvements
- Engage daily coaching with supervisors to support and strengthen the Daily Management process
- Develop and implement programs for productivity improvement, cost reduction and quality improvements
- Direct interaction with the union to resolve any conflicts that may occur
- Ensure factory is executing to ERP schedule
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience in lean tools and structured problem solving
- Proven track record of leading lean initiatives to achieve business results
- Experience in a union environment
Preferred
- Experience in rubber related industries
- Experience in continuous flow operational environments
Technical Skills
- Ability to accurately assess business and operational metrics, through data analytics
- Proficient in ERP systems
- Ability to identify safety hazards and implement cost effective solutions to mitigate risks
- Proficient in MS Office tools and data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communications; and work-related instruction skills
