Network Engineers are designated to provide overall engineering oversight of the customer's managed network. The Network Engineer understands the customer's internetworking environment and is the customer's technical advisor for current and future technology deployment and adoption. The Network Engineer utilizes consistent and sound engineering principles and industry best practices allowing the customer to rely on them for technical expertise in the implementation and evolution of their architecture.
The Engineer is a very specialized technical function within the Managed Network Services offering and provides the highest standards of technical expertise, leadership, and performance. PE plays a pivotal role in leading the technical deployment of large enterprise solutions. The engineer works across, and leverages, multiple technical discipline and provides technical direction to the program and to the technical discipline leads.
The Engineer must possess the ability to adapt to different customer needs and changing environments with a keen sense of scope and scope change as well as guide others to do so. In addition to the ability to span multiple technologies and deep-dive as needed, to interact heavily with other departments and organizations in order to delight our customers.
As an Engineer, you will create client solutions based on business requirements involving advanced networks, data center, security, and virtualization technologies; as well as development of fault and performance management policies and automation rules.
Responsible for proactive client engagement at all client levels, technology lifecycle development, and planning & coordination with various internal/external stakeholders.
Role will mainly support standard and custom solution development initiatives and network management device and application certification for Managed Services solutions and clients.
Close collaboration with Engineering/Planning, IT, Product Development, vendors and various Verizon and external delivery and support teams to manage the design and implementation of client projects.
Provide technical trainings and support for the Managed Services Operations team.
Design, implement, and support solutions involving, but not limited to, WAN, LAN, WLAN, VoIP, Data Analytics, Security and Virtual (e.g.; Virtualization, SDN, NFV) technologies.
Analyze, evaluate and communicate network capacity and performance data with the objective of driving improvements to customer's network.
Responsible for matrix supervision of a team for specific projects, resource management, process documentation, and peer mentoring.
Responsible for overseeing customer network documentation such as engineering design document, record of change, and network diagrams.
Provide last level incident support for NOC.
Responsible for presentations and demonstrations related to technology, process, or client solutions.
Requires ownership of design and critical issues, creative thinking, and problem resolution skills.
Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.
Skills and Qualifications Expected:
Strong communicator internally and externally directed at clients and third parties
Understanding of IT architecture design and development (nice to have: TOGAF, ITIL, CCAr, DCUCD, MCSE Platform & Infrastructure, CITA-x, CISSP, CQS, or equivalent)
Experience with and strong understanding of complex network and data center/cloud infrastructures (CCDP, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent level of experience)
Experience with SD WAN Design and build customer networks
Nice to have application development/scripting and related skills;
