Veterinary Assistant
The Veterinary Assistant is an entry level position suitable for applicants that are interested in pursuing a career in the veterinary field but have limited to no practical experience or formal college level education in the veterinary technology field. We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, dedicated and team-oriented individuals that are hungry to learn and become part of our Healthy Paws pet care team. We have developed an organized phase training program to accomplish this goal.
Major duties will include:
Assisting technicians with all aspects of clinic appointments- curbside runner/helper/extra pair of hands for the techs, taking patient history, weight, recording in medical record, patient restraint, drawing up vaccinations, running in house testing, preparing lab samples, cleaning exam room between appointments
Clean and restock exam rooms &treatment area
Unpack clinical supplies/drugs/Rx food, etc, reconcile delivery with packing slips, put supplies away
Walking in patients, cleaning kennels/runs, patient babysitting if needed
Answering phones, patient recall, learning how to answer basic veterinary/medication questions
End of the day clinic closing duties- assisting technicians
Assisting with x-rays, surgical patient prep, patient recovery from anesthesia
