Job Summary and Responsibilities:
Assisting patients with questions/complaints, MPS portal review/payment posting, reviewing Wakefield Recovery and confirming bad debt is current and correct, Variance transfers in NextGen, Credit card refunds and balancing, run bad debt report and communicate to patients with upcoming appointment, take payments for upcoming surgeries, document scanning, ER On call record request, attorney requested billing records, printing of itemized statements, take internal calls for billing needs from other departments.
Experience:
Minimum 6 months experience as a patient account representative
Preferred 1 years' experience as a patient account representative
Certification/Licenses:
None
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Duties:
- Assist patients and staff with cleaning up patient balances for HEA and HLSC.
- Verify amounts due at time of service.
- Patient contact for all questions concerning statements, balances, and refunds.
- Work with MPS for all follow up issues related to patient billing; must respond within 24 hours.
- Review all patient statements weekly, look for large balance, bad debt, and credit balances. Work to resolve issues.
- Initiate financial hardship forms, if necessary for patients that qualify; monitor them to ensure balances are being handles appropriately.
- Work reports from MPS and ensure system is updated when account gets moved to bad debt.
- Run patient AR reports and work to resolve balances, credits, and initiate refunds if necessary.
- Run daily appointment schedules with balances and make sure patients are aware of large balances prior to arrival. Work with patient to get payment in full.
- Resource: Be a resource to other business office personnel and clinic.
- Back up billing calls.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of six (6) months insurance verification and patient account representative experience. Would prefer one(1) year A/R insurance verification and patient account representative experience.
- General knowledge of practice management software, knowledge of NextGen preferred, Excel spreadsheets and/or database software.
