What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAT Prep Instructor, Academy position at Heights Philadelphia?
Steppingstone Academy is hiring for our Saturday Program for the 2024-2025 school year. Classes will be held each Saturday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm, with the staff arriving at 9:30 am and leaving after the students are all dismissed at 12:00 pm. The SAT Prep instructor is responsible for implementing SAT lessons created by our SAT Prep System for 10th and 11th graders. The SAT Prep instructor will create rigorous content to develop the math and/or reading skills of 10th and 11th-grade students. The SAT Prep instructor will also work closely with the High School Coordinator and other faculty members to find alignment and connection between content areas.

- Educational programming specific to SAT Prep and support for talented underserved students in the Philadelphia region to achieve academic success, opportunity, and a college degree.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Submitting a syllabus to the High School Coordinator that details SAT course goals and desired outcomes before the start of the program
- Delivering rigorous and challenging instructional SAT material, appealing to multiple learning styles
- Utilizing effective classroom management strategies during instruction
- Working closely with Academy faculty and High School Coordinator to analyze SAT student data to inform instruction
- Working with colleagues to plan and implement SAT program activities as needed
- Being accountable and monitoring student achievement with SAT, scaffolding and differentiating instruction to support student achievement with SAT
- Incorporating Steppingstone Academy routines and instructional strategies, demonstrating an ability to be receptive to feedback
- Monitoring students during classroom transitions and activities and as needed
- Engaging students in useful, dynamic, and creative instruction that bolsters core skills to help them be successful when taking the SAT
About you:
- Experience teaching high school students in classroom setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in one or more content SAT areas (e.g. Algebra, Biology, English Literature)
- Experience teaching students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Willingness to work collaboratively with Faculty and Program Directors to achieve desired learning outcomes including but not limited to:
- Implementing cross-curricular instruction
- Assessing students strength with SAT academically; responding to areas where improvement is necessary

- Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and complete an I-9 employment verification form.
- Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
- Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
- Must adhere to COVID safety guidelines as established by Heights and/or its partners.
- All staff should be mindful of the organization’s strong recommendation that everyone maintains an up to date with COVID vaccination and boosters.
- Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
