Helixon US Inc. Intern Position (Part-time)
We are seeking a highly motivated Master’s or PhD student looking towards a career in biotech research to join our group as a part-time intern. Ideally, the internship will begin in late summer/early fall of 2025. This internship has the potential to transition into a full-time position, contingent on factors such as funding, work availability, performance, and project expansion.
Job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Mammalian cell culture
- Bacterial cultures
- DNA & RNA isolation
- PCR & RT-qPCR
- Recombinant protein expression and purification
- Making stock solutions, media, growth plates, and other commonly used consumable lab materials
- General lab upkeep: Cleaning lab glassware/equipment, autoclaving waste, taking stock of materials and reporting to the lab manager when items should be ordered, etc.
While previous experience with one or more of the above skills is desirable, the selected candidate will also go through a training period to ensure all techniques are performed in accordance with established company standards and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Degree: BS or MS in Biology, Microbiology, Cell & Developmental Biology, Molecular and Integrative Physiology, or related field. Will consider candidates with anticipated degree completion dates of December 2025 or May 2026.
Compensation: $20-25/hr depending on experience
Hours per week: 20-25
Must be willing to commit to 20-25 hours per week in person (on-site in Champaign, IL). This is not a remote position. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
No travel is involved for this position.
