General Statement of Duties
Plans and supervises general recreation programs or assists in the development and administration of a specialized recreation program on a County-wide basis; does related work as required.

Essential Duties
The employee must have strong knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation, specifically of recreation programming; exceptional leadership, supervisory and problem-solving skills required; knowledge and hands on experience with children in a variety of settings. Must have the ability to work on own initiative without close supervision or guidance, good organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills
Possession of a bachelor's degree in recreation or a field directly related to the needs of the assigned position, and one (1) year of related work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
The operating hours are 7:30am - 5:00pm, shifts will be during this time.

- Oversee and supervise staff at multiple sites for summer day care camp.
- Must have considerable knowledge and hands on experience with managing staff who are working directly with youth in a variety of areas.
- Possess exceptional leadership, supervisor and problem-solving skills.
- Directly supervise, train, and work with Recreation Center Coordinators, Instructors and Aides.
- Ability to work independently, effective oral and written communication skills.
- Assesses and communicates directly with parents, guardians, of participants in regard to their behaviors
- While representing Henrico County establish and maintain positive and constructive relationships with camper, parents, guardians.
- Evaluate program needs to ensure program safety and quality.
- Effectively and accurately complete necessary form and reports.
- maintain communication with supervision for the safety and efficiency of camp.
