What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biomedical Equipment Tech position at Heritage Valley Health System?
Department: Clinical Engineering
Work Hours: M-F 8 hour shifts, overtime and on-call required
Basic Function:
The BMET assists in the operation, support and repair of clinical equipment, and supports the Clinical Technology Program
Qualifications:
Required: The BMET will possess a good understanding of health care practices, and safety. Has a working knowledge of human physiology and anatomy. Has considerable knowledge of the latest and most advanced troubleshooting, calibration and repair techniques. Has considerable knowledge of electronics, including solid state technology and both linear and digital circuit operations. An AAS degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent is required. Minimum of five years experience in the maintenance of clinical equipment.
Preferred: Seven to ten years experience in a health care environment. Certification eligible. Possess considerable knowledge of a broad range of biomedical equipment. Possess a working knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, TJC, OSHA and NFPA regulations, standards and guidelines. Demonstrate high proficiency in at least one equipment modality (i.e. lab analyzers, anesthesia equipment, and surgical lasers).
