Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support physicians and nurses with medical procedures, medication administration, and specimen collection.
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to ensure precise documentation of patient encounters.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment according to infection control standards.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care in both English and Spanish.
- Assist with ICD coding and documentation for billing purposes while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support hospital-based functions such as X-ray procedures, inpatient care, or emergency medicine settings if applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including outpatient clinics, Geriatrics, Medical-Surgical units, PICU, OR environments, Level I & II Trauma Centers, and internal medicine departments.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
Skills
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory for effective communication with diverse patients.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and ICD coding standards.
- Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care centers, outpatient clinics, or similar healthcare environments; experience in Level I & II trauma centers is a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling and documentation.
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) procedures confidently.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and patient care practices across various specialties including dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, medical-surgical units, PICU, or OR settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments like emergency departments or inpatient units. This position is integral to providing high-quality healthcare services while supporting the clinical team through administrative excellence and compassionate patient interactions.
