This position oversees all aspects of Heron Hill Winery's tasting room. Job duties include but are not limited to management of day-to-day tasting hall operations and personnel. This leadership position requires initiative, vision and excellent communication skills including relationships with management, patrons and employees. Strive to continuously improve Heron Hill’s quality of service, education and hospitality while building and developing strong and reliable employees and consumer base. Key Responsibilities:
Tasting Room Operations & Staff Management
- Manage daily operations of the tasting room and retail gift shop.
- Hire, train, and schedule staff, including all tasting hall and retail team members.
- Develop and implement rigorous wine training and education programs for staff.
- Promote continuous learning through product knowledge updates, new releases, and cross-training in tasting room and gift shop roles.
- Coach staff on effective selling techniques tailored to guest preferences.
- Uphold exemplary customer service standards and positive team culture.
- Enforce policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Facility & Inventory Management
- Maintain a welcoming, organized, and clean tasting room, gift shop, restrooms, outdoor areas, and storage spaces.
- Manage tasting wine inventory and provide monthly reporting.
- Collaborate with management on annual sales plans and budgets.
- Implement income-generating initiatives and cost-control measures.
Wine Club & Events
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wine club members.
- Drive wine club membership growth, engagement, and sales.
- Oversee all Keuka winery events, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven excellence in customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing a tasting room, fine dining service, or similar hospitality setting, including staff supervision and shift scheduling.
- Exceptional communication, budgeting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive in staff development and enhancing the guest experience.
- Barista or beverage service experience is a plus.
