What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Development Specialist position at Hexagon AB?
What You’ll Do:
- Research and identify prospects at new/existing customers and industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, energy, and manufacturing.
- Generate and qualify leads through outbound campaigns (e.g., phone, email, LinkedIn) and follow up on inbound interest from marketing programs.
- Initiate conversations with engineers, simulation specialists, technical managers, and procurement teams to understand needs and align our solutions.
- Maintain an organized pipeline of qualified opportunities and hand off warm leads to Account Executives and Technical Sales Engineers.
- Collaborate with sales/marketing to fine-tune messaging for technical personas and align on target segments, events, and campaigns.
- Track and report lead metrics, conversion rates, and campaign performance in Salesforce.
- Stay current on trends in CAE, FEA, CFD, and other simulation domains to intelligently position the value of our software solutions.
- Attend local company events and online webinars.
- Develop competitive analysis and share market intelligence.
Qualifications:
- A strong desire to learn and grow in a sales-focused role, especially in a technical or engineering-driven environment.
- Demonstrated self-motivation and persistence—comfortable making repeated outreach efforts through calls, emails, and social tools to engage potential customers.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to spark interest and initiate meaningful conversations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in understanding technical products or applications; ability to learn and retain complex product knowledge over time.
- Positive, high-energy personality with a resilient and goal-oriented mindset, well-suited to a fast-paced sales development role.
- Openness to coaching, feedback, and structured learning through mentoring, shadowing, and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with or willingness to quickly learn CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), prospecting tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo), and outreach platforms (e.g., Salesloft).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Previous work experience or internship related to sales, technical customer engagement, manufacturing, or engineering applications.
- Exposure to sales processes, lead generation, or tools used in modern B2B sales environments.
- Familiarity with simulation or metrology concepts (e.g., CAD, CAE, digital twins) is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working in a team-based setting where goals, adaptability, and communication were key to success.
