Position Overview
Execute safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the shipping department at the Sheboygan site. The operator must safely load and ship bulk outbound material into tank trucks, totes and drums, receive and transport to storage inbound material from both internal and external customers. This includes relocation of trailers around the plant using a capacity spotter. The shipper must also clean their work are and make minor repairs or adjustments.
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, including Overtime as required to include days/nights/weekends
Job Responsibilities
EH&S
Proactively seek to identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace.
Understand and ensure safety standards are met.
Participate in safety training and audits.
Always maintain working area in clean and safe conditions.
Issue and monitor Safe Work, Hot Work, and Confined Space Permits for maintenance and contractors.
Quality
Ensure lab safety practices adhered to.
Perform analytical testing of in-process samples and finished products.
Support troubleshooting of lab equipment, as needed.
Perform final QC inspections on all shipments.
Complete Certificate of Analysis documents
Participate in safety and quality incident investigations.
Production
Responsible for day-to-day operation of loading, packaging and shipping.
Movement of empty and full trailers around site using yard trucks.
Maintain certification to the shipping department operating manual.
Load product into trucks and unload raw materials.
Receive raw materials in SAP.
Follow shipping schedule in SAP, print BOL’s, pick and post goods issue.
Create, maintain and confirm production orders for packaged goods.
Create, maintain and complete process orders for formaldehyde blends.
Fill drums, totes and pails and prepare for shipment.
Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years’ work experience – industrial environment preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately.
Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to use a computer effectively with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams, or schematics.
Safety focus in prior jobs
Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform some arithmetic operations, possess eye-hand motor coordination and be able to operate a forklift.
Temperament: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions and perform repetitive work.
