Kids' Events Team Captain (Seasonal: September 2nd through December 14th)
Part Time Hours: 15 Hours per week minimum, with opportunity to do 20-25 during high events season
In-Person: in office or at an event, working as team lead.
In-Office 3 Days: (15 Hours) This can be flexibly decided based on your schedule
Events Monday-Friday (as needed): 3:00-6:00
Events Saturday & Sunday (as needed): 10:00-1:00
HeyCurated by CuratedCare.com is a kid-centered, experience-focused events company. We connect creative event staff with a variety of special seasonal event opportunities in social clubs and luxury residential buildings across New York.
We are seeking a Part-Time Seasonal Event Captain to join our team and assist the needs of our fast growing events program! The Event Captain will be responsible for organizing materials for our Fall and Holiday parties, and leading events onsite at various locations around the city. They will prep craft materials, pack event bags, manage our supply closet in the office, travel to party venues and lead super fun Back to School, Halloween and Holiday events.
This is an awesome opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in events and children’s programming, loves traveling around the city, comfortable leading a group, has experience working in events or education and loves being around people and kids!
This is an onsite seasonal part-time role with required days in our office in Flatiron, and afternoons traveling to venues as well as weekend mornings as needed. Pay is $20/hr for in-office prep work, and $30/hr when leading an event, with a preferred start date of Wednesday, September 3rd.
Qualifications
- Great people and leadership skills, with experience and interest working with children
- Excellent verbal skills
- Adaptability to handle unexpected situations and adjust plans as needed
- Comfortable travelling around New York City, especially Uptown & Downtown Manhattan and Park Slope, Brooklyn
- Experience working with children, in childcare, events or education: 2 years (Required)
- High school degree or equivalent (Required)
- Ability to lift and move materials (up to 25 lbs)
Responsibilities
In-Office
- Receive event assignments from director of programming
- Receive material shipments, unpack and maintain organization of supply closet
- Managing material inventory and communicating restocking needs with director
- Pack event material bags for pick up and to take to events
- Unpack event material bags after events
- Coordinate with other event leads for party bag pick ups at office (as needed)
Event Work
- Coordinate updates and arrival with event team members on day of event
- Transport party bag with materials
- Lead set up of decor and crafts at events
- Take photos of set up and activities during event
- Lead staff in event tasks and activities
- Engage with families and kiddos throughout the event
- Ensure event flow (schedule of activities, team energy and vibe) feels spectacular
- Prepared to problem solve staffing issues day of events
- Maintain positive relationships with onsite event managers
- Lead event clean up
- Pack materials and return to the office
- Fill out event post-report and share feedback with director
