Reports To:    Facilities & Vehicle Maintenance Lead 


Amount of Travel Required: 60% - 80%
Work Schedule:                        7:30 am until 3:30 pm (M - F)
Positions Supervised:             None
 

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform repairs and maintenance of buildings, building contents and grounds. Perform repairs and maintenance of vehicles. Identifies and corrects group homes and equipment problems by performing general carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and HVAC work.  Responsible for making sure all equipment is in safe operating condition, prevent degradation of property and systems, prevent failures that cause reduction in service using various hand, power and specialty tools. Will drive company maintenance vehicle throughout workday to various worksites and locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Daily attendance and punctuality
  • Use tools ranging from common hand tools and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, all building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of all buildings do not deteriorate.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Inspects drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
  • Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping and snow/ice removal.
  • Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation.
  • Train assigned staff on the general maintenance and care of vehicles in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Estimate repair costs.
  • Fabricate or repair counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures, such as sheds or outbuildings.
  • Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of all buildings and property.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Strip, seal, finish, buff and polish floors.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events and meetings.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Make adjustments or minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, or electrical systems.
  • Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to worksite, including vans, maintenance trucks, passenger vans, mini-buses, and industrial trucks.
  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply.
  • Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
  • Reassemble tires onto wheels.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools.
  • Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes or tears.
  • Drive automobile or service truck to provide services or respond to emergency calls.

SKILLS & ABILITIES 


Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)


Experience: Two to four years related experience.  Prefers HVAC certification. 


Computer Skills: Basic understanding and use of computers required. 


Certificates & Licenses:  CPR/AED and First Aid, valid Georgia Driver's license, Transportation and vehicle Emergency Evacuation certification; and de-escalation techniques (QBS certification) within 90-days of employment.

 

Other Requirements: 

Must be 21 years old, able to pass a pre-employment physical and capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds; have a negative drug screening and a tuberculosis (TB) screening or X-Ray; and, have an acceptable motor vehicle record with no more than two moving violations in a three year period within the last five years of a seven year motor vehicle record report, vehicle liability insurance and an acceptable criminal record check. Must have reliable transportation.
