BRAZE TAPE OPERATOR I, II & III

SUMMARY

This entry level position is responsible for performing specific manual techniques using various hand tools for the Braze tape application process. In addition, this position is required to comply with all safety protocols to complete daily tasks at all times. It requires visual acuity to perform within required routines that are repetitive in nature. 

Braze Operator Level depends on skill level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under direction of the Production Supervisor the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. The following duties and responsibilities apply to all levels of the Braze operator:

• Understand and follow Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals.
• Understand and follow safety procedures such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understand and follow procedures outlined in the General Shop instructions and Braze Tape Procedure found in the Operating Manual (O.M.)
• Compare specifications on the Traveler with the parts status tag to ensure they match.
• Compare specifications on the customer drawing with the drawing sketch
• Compare Braze tape information on the Traveler with the information in the specification box on the sketch
• Obtain the proper equipment required for the Braze Tape application procedure
• Confirm that honeycomb material has been properly cleaned before applying the Braze Tape
• Cut Braze Tape material to appropriate length and width for procedure
• Apply Braze Tape according to procedure
• Work with inspector if a ‘first article’ is required by the customer
• Work with Production Operators, Leads and Supervisors as needed
• Notify mentor/lead or supervisor of any issues/concerns during the manufacturing procedure
• Support the operations of other departments as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES                                                    

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Manufacturing experience is desired. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS        

Basic math skills required; ability to measure with a caliper, measure angle with protractor and use inspection gauges is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS                     

Basic English comprehension, reading and writing is required.

REASONING ABILITY                 

This individual must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions; the ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES                            

This individual must be able to read standard Traveler form and supplemental documents to perform regular duties as required of this and sequential duties and positions.  Ability to utilize specialized tools to measure and confirm tolerances is required. Good visual acuity, attention to detail are required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk and/or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
