What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Instructional Assistant position at High School?
Northwestern Lehigh School District is accepting applications for a 1:1 Instructional Assistant for a student in
Grade 9. This is a six-hour position, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The successful candidate for this
position will support the student in all of their academic classes and assist the student with organizational
support, work completion, and academic behaviors.
Instructional Assistants employed by the Northwestern Lehigh School District must meet the Pennsylvania regulatory requirements for both regular education and special education assignments as outlined in the Pennsylvania School code.
The employment requirements include the following:
- Have completed at least two years of post secondary/college education study; or
- Possess an Associate Degree or higher; or
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality demonstrated through a Pennsylvania State; or Northwestern Lehigh assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics.
The Pennsylvania State or Northwestern Lehigh assessment is provided at no cost for all new Instructional Assistant positions as needed.
Instructional Assistants are also required to complete 20 hours of staff development activities related to their assignments each school year. The staff development activities are provided at no cost by Northwestern Lehigh School District.
