High Spirit Community Farm is a therapeutic work-life community for people with and without disabilities. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that all people deserve the opportunity to participate in meaningful and dignifying work and life. Our goal is to empower residents and staff to pursue their interests, form friendships and experience a higher level of autonomy and independence than what is possible in traditional care models. We are a community of three homes surrounding a five-acre farm in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, a small, vibrant town in the Berkshires. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Direct Support Provider will be a member of the Day Program Crew and will uphold and honor the mission and vision of High Spirit Community Farm. The key areas of responsibility are included below:

CARE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

· Demonstrate care and concern for Individuals

· Support Individuals with tasks of daily life and direct care, including help with meals, dressing and other personal care

· Plan and prepare for activities under your supervision - Includes swimming at the local pool with a swimmer who needs in-pool support, supporting residents to accomplish light garden work and the ability to find fun and joy in a number of other activities that individuals have chosen.

· Assist Individuals and the household by preparing meals, doing laundry or cleaning

- Have an interest in learning about and protecting the human rights of the individuals that we care for.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Experience is valued, but training can and will be provided

· Excellent driving record

JOB TYPE: Full Time

Schedule: Five 8-hour days/week (40 hours) including one weekend day with shifts covering a combination of hours between 9 am and 5 pm, and 12 pm and 8 pm. Flexibility urged during times of staffing shortages or transitions.

BENEFITS:

High Spirit offers a compensation package including a salary of $40,000. Additional benefits include 25 days of paid time off, reimbursement for the cost of health insurance (in a plan comparable to that currently offered to employees), meals during work hours, and produce from the garden.
