Highland Homes is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Microsoft Azure Architect with heavy experience in Azure Identity, Azure Networking, Microservices Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, Terraform, Azure Functions, and Azure PaaS services to join our team and ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.

The Senior Microsoft Azure Architect will lead the overall design and ongoing management of Highland Homes’ cloud infrastructure, and will implement secure architecture, establish infrastructure-as-code practices, architect, deploy and operationalize enterprise backup and recovery solutions, and deliver performance and cost visibility across our Azure environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
  • Verify production environment can be consistently redeployed via Terraform with proper version control and documentation.
  • Architect resilient solutions leveraging Azure PaaS services including SQL Managed Instance, Function Apps, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Entra ID Domain Services, Azure DevOps, and Azure Files.
  • Develop high-availability and disaster recovery strategies aligned with business continuity objectives.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to automate application deployments.
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture and Business Intelligence teams to ensure infrastructure, configuration, and deployment pipelines are streamlined and reliable.
  • Own the operations (Ops) layer of the DevOps model to ensure monitoring, alerting, rollback, and scaling processes are robust and well-documented.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure documentation and disaster recovery runbooks
  • Build and maintain performance and cost management dashboards using native Azure tools (Azure Monitor, Cost Management, Log Analytics, Power BI).
  • Configure and test disaster recovery architecture, solutions, and runbooks on a consistent and proactive schedule.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and optimization of systems and services to ensure efficient utilization and cost control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 6 years demonstrated experience managing Microsoft Azure-based infrastructure in a leadership capacity.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure PaaS components including SQL MI, Function Apps, Azure Data Lake, Entra ID Domain Services, and Azure Files.
  • Strong experience with IaC, MFA, SSO, and IAM.
  • Solid understanding of networking, identity, and security within Azure environments.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting preferred.
  • Familiarity with Azure Policy and Blueprints for enforcing organization-specific requirements for compliance and governance.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Azure Resource Manager.
  • Proficiency in using Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics for performance and security monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and business requirements.
