WEEKEND SUPERVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility. This position is a safety sensitive position as defined by applicable state law.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the state.
- Experience in Long Term Care preferred.
- Experience in management and geriatric nursing preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB (with or without assistance):
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and ability to remain calm under stress.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assuring resident safety.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in the day to day operation of the nursing department.
- Regularly conduct rounds as directed by Director of Nursing to inspect the facility, nursing practices and documentation for compliance with federal, state and any local standards and regulations.
- As requested by Director of Nursing, conduct interviews of applicants for the nursing department and hire or reject after reviewing references.
- Conduct disciplinary actions and terminations of nursing staff as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Conduct evaluations as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Assist with the ordering and inventory of all nursing supplies and equipment.
- Meet with team members regarding admission, placement or discharge of residents. In addition, participate in coordination of resident services through departmental staff meetings and assist in the development of residents’ care plans.
- Attend department head/administration meetings.
- Assist in providing in-services to all shifts as necessary.
- Assist with the follow up from Pharmacist and Registered Dietician visits as directed by Director of Nursing.
- Is on call for emergencies that other supervisory personnel cannot handle.
- Assume administrative responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Travel to occasional meetings, conventions and seminars.
- These duties and responsibilities are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned from time to time. The scope of this position may change as necessitated by business demands.
