GENERAL OVERVIEW :
This job receives, cleans, distributes and stores medical instruments and equipment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Cleans, disinfects, decontaminates, and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods, substances and equipment. (30%)
- Receives, stocks, packages, and distributes medical instruments and equipment. (30%)
- Performs and documents required quality assurance testing and inspection on stock. Inventories and reorders supplies. (30%)
- Properly disposes of biohazardous substances, chemicals, medical waste, and unusable equipment and supplies. (10%)
QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum
Minimum
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- For Central Service Technician (CST) hired after 12 / 29 / 2020 Employees who practice central sterile by the health care facility on or before December 29, 2020 are exempt from certification requirements : Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months from hire dateMaintain one of the following : Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Preferred
- Enrollment in a surgical tech / sterile processing program.
