Job Summary:
- As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice
Job Duties:
- Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.

Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer
medication. Documents patient care given. - Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Observes central monitor screens, interprets, recognizes and records changes in patient's rhythms and notifies nurse as appropriate.
- Handle with Care participation annually or CPI participation every 2 years.
Job Requirements:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of employment.
- License: Current TN LPN licensure
- Six months to one year experience as LPN in medical/surgical unit preferred. New Graduates will be considered.
- Practical Nursing Diploma required
