As a Liquid Handling Automation Engineer, you will be a part of the Automation Engineering team at our headquarters in Beverly, Massachusetts. The focus of this role is to ensure our users are successful when operating Prime, our robotic automated liquid handler. Most of this role will be focused on translating our users' applications onto Prime, configuring and testing the Prime and the applications, and traveling to our users to ensure they are successful with Prime. Other aspects of this role include supporting existing Prime users and developing and maintaining documentation.  

 

In this role, your contributions will play a vital role in the success of our customers and in our growth as a team and organization. This position is demanding and rewarding with significant scope for role expansion and growth. This role requires significant Domestic and some international travel with the amount of travel that can reach up to 40% - 60% per year for both local and overnight trips (~100 – 150 days (about 5 months)).

Responsibilities

  • Own a project by executing the initial installation of the system until training has been completed with the customers after the system has been delivered.  
  • Work with customers to enable their success when using the Prime during their daily operation. 
  • Perform troubleshooting of protocols and instrumentation. 
  • Lead acceptance testing of Prime 
  • Optimize liquid handling performance of Prime. 
  • Provide basic and advanced software and hardware training to customers and internal members of HighRes. 
  • Develop, maintain, and contribute to all types of documentation ranging from customer facing training to internal process development. 
  • Develop, program, and verify application specific protocols on HighRes products by interpreting procedures provided by the customer. 
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and co-workers.  
  • Travel to assist our customers (up to 60%) 

Qualifications

  • Desire to make a difference.  
  • B.S. degree in Life Sciences or Computer Science. Preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Robotics.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work well with multidisciplinary groups. 
  • Basic proficiency with object-oriented programming languages with an emphasis on C# and Python. 
  • Experience programming automated laboratory scientific equipment in high throughput screening, compound management, drug discovery, or research automation setting 
  • Experience with lab scheduling software for automated systems 
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, passport for domestic and international travel, and personal transportation required.  
  • Able to lift 30 pounds. 
  • Flexibility in working hours and ability to travel.
