We are currently looking for Lube Technicians for our Brownstown/Ephrata Location. As a Lube Technician you will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on a variety of heavy construction equipment. This can be done in the shop but is usually done at the customer’s worksite using your lube truck. Don’t have a CDL? Highway will pay for CDL training for the right candidate.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. This position is overtime eligible. Overtime may be required based on customer needs.
Required Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Two-year technical school degree or two years’ experience in heavy construction equipment diagnosis and repair
3. Class C (non-commercial) driver’s license with a clean driving record
4. Ability to obtain Class A CDL or a Class B with air brake within 60 days of hire
5. All selected applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment physical.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Class A CDL or Class B CDL with air brake
2. Two-year technical school degree and heavy construction equipment diagnosis and repair experience
Essential Functions
1. Perform routine maintenance on all types of heavy equipment. This will include changing filters, marking filters, sampling fluids, and refilling fluids
2. Complete minor service repairs in the shop or in the field; such as changing batteries, replacing drive belts or assisting other technicians
3. Perform basic inspections of equipment being serviced and report findings such as lights that are out, fluid leaks, and worn or damaged hoses
4. Take full ownership of the lube truck to make sure it is clean, in good working condition, and stocked with everything you need.
5. Ensure proper notes are taken and communicate all findings to the service department. This will include the time on the job, material used, and work performed.
6. Continue service training education to enhance knowledge and service capabilities, and remain current on new technologies.
COMPETENCIES
1. Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions required. Must have a strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
2. Possess and further develop good mechanical and diagnostic skills and problem-solving capabilities
3. Proficient with Microsoft systems and applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
4. General computer proficiency
5. Demonstrate strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Work well in a fast-paced, demanding team environment, with all levels of the company, and with all types of customers
7. Highly motivated and able to work independently with little or no supervision and with a strict attention to detail; able to work productively with customers and employees
8. Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
9. Class B commercial driver’s license
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day in a company vehicle, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
