What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector position at Hill International Inc?
Hill International is seeking an Inspector in Oakland, California
- Responsible for daily reporting on progress quality issues per State and Federal requirements
- Must be able to document the work via the daily inspection report and various other reports including tracking quantities and documenting force account work
- Confirm conformance with construction drawings and specifications, Contract Documents, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and applicable codes and design standards
- Verify all contractor provided quantities per the Bid Item Schedule to process the monthly progress payments
- Witness and observe quality control testing activities conducted by the contractor and the special inspection firm.
- Coordinate and assist periodic field survey for conformance
- Verify the contractor's tracking and inspection of all material deliveries, storage and protection
- Confirm all materials meet the submittal criteria
- Monitor Contractor's operations to ensure work is being performed in a safe manner
- Identification and recording of new employees and visitors
- Maintain file(s) of approved Contractors and sub-contractors of any type working on the project
- Maintain additional records or documents as required
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, special provisions, and other contract documents
- Ability to independently identify potential problems and propose solutions
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 5 years of demonstrated construction management experience of transportation projects
- Prior Airport or Airfield work experience preferred
- Previous paving and electrical experience
- Strong understanding of construction methods, standards, equipment, quality and safety per State and Federal requirements
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral
- Consent to security and background checks
- Position entails primarily night work; ability and flexibility to work night shifts
The salary range for this position is $158,000-$170,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
