The Institutional Sales Trainee will provide administrative and operational support to a team of Salespeople on the trading floor. This is an exciting opportunity to learn the Institutional Sales role and progress into a junior sales position.

Our team of over 200 professionals develop over 1,100 financings each year on average. As part of HilltopSecurities’ Public Finance department, you have the opportunity to support public entities’ financing efforts across a variety of sectors such as toll roads, airports, hotels, higher education, health care, and more, in addition to public-private partnerships. You are given the responsibility to analyze and structure deals for clients across all sectors. Our use of industry-specific software packages allows us to conduct extensive financial analysis and present proposals and detailed presentations to our clients. The Institutional Sales Trainee will provide administrative and operational support to a team of Salespeople on the trading floor. Responsibilities
- Answer client inquires over the phone and via email
- Assist Institutional Sales team with daily activities
- Troubleshoot trade problems, check hedges and confirm trades with clients and dealers back office teams
- Maintain databases and files
- Support the administrative needs of the office
- Obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in the brokerage industry
- Bachelor's degree required (Finance or Econ preferred)
- Must have or be willing to obtain Series 7 & 63 licenses within one year of hire
- Desire to learn the Institutional Sales business
- Strong PC skills including knowledge of MS office products and the Bloomberg Terminal
- 1-2 years previous industry or sales experience preferred
- Team player, comfortable working in a loud, fast-paced, deadline-drive environment
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude even under extreme pressure
- Ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit interested in working in a competitive environment Hours: 6am-6pm
