Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Program Manager – Engineering II to lead and oversee cross-functional engineering initiatives within our energy delivery infrastructure. This role is responsible for end-to-end program execution, including planning, coordination, risk management, and reporting for multi-disciplinary projects supporting grid modernization, renewable integration, capital construction, and asset reliability.
You will be accountable for aligning engineering project outcomes with business goals, managing internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full lifecycle of complex engineering programs across electric, gas, or renewable energy portfolios.
- Translate strategic business objectives into actionable engineering project plans with defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, regulatory, procurement, and environmental units.
- Drive consistent execution by applying project management methodologies (Agile, PMI, Lean), tools, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with NERC/FERC regulations, safety protocols, and internal governance.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract deliverables, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop and deliver executive-level reporting on program status, risk mitigation, KPIs, and financial performance.
- Identify and escalate program risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure delivery objectives are met.
- Support capital budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning across engineering portfolios.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
- 5 years of experience in engineering project/program management; preferably in utilities, energy, or infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success managing medium- to large-scale engineering programs ($5M budgets).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and working in a regulated environment.
- Proficient in MS Project, Primavera (P6), or similar scheduling tools.
- Strong working knowledge of risk management, capital planning, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE license or PMP certification highly preferred.
- Utility operations or power systems engineering background.
- Experience with SAP, Maximo, GIS, or similar enterprise systems.
- Working knowledge of environmental permitting, ROW acquisition, and permitting processes.
- Experience with clean energy projects, such as wind, solar, or battery storage.
