KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Batch Making & Mixing:
- Accurately measure and mix raw materials according to formulas, work orders, and production schedules.
- Operate mixing tanks, pumps, agitators, and blending equipment to achieve proper consistency and quality.
- Adjust viscosity, tint, and other product specifications as needed to meet company standards.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain accurate batch records.
- Perform sample testing and work with Quality Control to ensure product specifications are met.
Filling & Packaging:
- Fill gallons, pails, drums, and totes with finished products according to production orders.
- Operate automated and manual filling equipment to accurately dispense paint into containers.
- Secure lids, label products, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Inspect packaging for accuracy, leaks, or defects before finalizing shipments.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations for handling hazardous chemicals.
- Properly wear and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, respirators, and safety glasses.
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding procedures are followed to prevent static discharge and fire hazards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including properly storing chemicals and disposing of waste materials.
Equipment & Maintenance:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move raw materials and finished goods.
- Monitor equipment for proper operation and report malfunctions, leaks, or needed repairs to maintenance.
- Assist in preventative maintenance on production equipment as required.
General Production Support:
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking raw materials, batch ingredients, and finished goods.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and safety in the production process.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, batch mixing, chemical blending, or paint production is preferred.
- Forklift certification is a plus (training can be provided).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in batch making or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of industrial machinery.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software and inventory control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed.
- Background in paint manufacturing is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to measure, weigh, and mix raw materials accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to read and follow batch tickets, formulas, and SOPs.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to operate mixing, filling, and packaging equipment.
- Understanding of chemical safety and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures.
Work Environment
- Exposure to chemical odors, solvents, and pigments.
- Work in a manufacturing setting with moving equipment and loud noise.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, respirators, and safety glasses.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as needed.
