Job Description
The Family Support Specialist serves as part of the Parent and Family Learning Center. Under supervision, the Family Support Specialist is responsible for the coordination of all enrichment and tutoring services provided to all Early Learners under the afterschool program. Provides case management support, financial, and other material assistance to at-risk families. Plans and organizes daily activities and rosters, implementing activities, ensuring efficacy. Supports program initiatives and outreach efforts for all parents and children. Coordinates new program partnerships, maintaining relationships through constant communication. Maintains program database(s) through timely and accurate data entry/reporting. Develops and plans activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine. Ensuring a safe and educational environment. Supports the establishment and enforcement of program policies and procedures. Performs related work as required.
The hours of work are 28 per week. Required to travel to site locations.
This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of program coordination for school-aged children and Family dynamics
- Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to plan and implement program initiatives
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work flexible work hours including pre-scheduled nights and weekends
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
Associates Degree and two (2) years of experience providing education, Family engagement groups and community work.
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
§ Associate’s or bachelor's degree in Social Service, Education, or related field
§ Experience with mental health population and/ at-risk community
§ Bilingual - Spanish
