Job Description
The Youth Development Specialist serves as part of the Family Wellness Center & Youth Program. Under supervision, the Youth Development Specialist is responsible for completing programming and ensuring the safety and well-being of all extended learning program participants. Plans and organizes daily activities and attendance, implements enrichment activities, assists with transitions and ensures program efficacy. Supports other program staff with programming and supervision of participants whenever possible. Communicates with program parents and guardians when necessary, ensuring a trusting relationship between program staff and community families. Assists with the maintenance of school classrooms and spaces utilized by the extended learning program. Develops and plans activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine. Complete required staff training, ensuring a safe and educational environment. Supports the establishment and enforcement of program policies and procedures. Performs related work as required.
The hours of work are 10 per week. Required to travel to site locations (where necessary).
This is a grant-funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of program coordination for school-aged children
- Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to plan and implement engaging lesson plans and activities
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to display professionalism through interactions with staff, participants, and families
- Ability to work flexible work hours
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and one (1) years of experience working with children and or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual – Spanish
