Overview: HKS Dallas is seeking an experienced Writer to join our Marketing Communications team. The Writer will create content, copy and concepts to be used across all HKS communication channels. These include web text such as feature stories, project descriptions, bios, case studies, blog posts; ghost-written bylines; research reports; marketing text including boilerplate; campaign concepts; email marketing and other related writing duties. Reporting to the Senior Editor, the Writer will demonstrate exemplary writing, editing and communications skills, and be a versatile and polished communicator capable of solving complex challenges and developing original solutions. Responsibilities: Suggest stories and generate headline ideas in alignment with our firm’s targeted audience’s preferences. Successfully execute and complete writing assignments from the Senior Editor or other managers. Meet all deadlines. Write in HKS brand voice and establish messaging direction in every execution. Check content for accuracy and errors. Proofread, edit and improve stories or posts. Help edit contributions of writers and freelancers as necessary. Collaborate with internal clients as a brand journalist to uncover the stories and insights that lead to meaningful messaging and concepts. Translate creative direction and creative briefs into engaging and effective messaging and copy concepts. Lead research, concept creation, ideation and copy editing for all writing assignments. Coordinate and partner with designers, photographers, editors, fellow writers, and other members of the Marketing Communications team. Learn and collaborate with peers, mentors, and managers in a multidisciplinary environment. Contribute to a culture of storytelling at HKS. Qualifications: Bachelor's or master’s degree in English, communications, journalism, architecture, art history or related field. Minimum three years professional experience in writing or related fields. Passion for great storytelling. Proven experience as a writer. An eye for detail along with critical thinking. Exceptional interviewing, writing and editing skills, with the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for diverse channels and audiences. An excellent portfolio. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others in a studio environment. Experience with MS Office and InDesign, Photoshop or other publishing tools. Familiarity with SEO and social media best practices. Enthusiasm for and understanding of web trends and technologies, including established and emerging capabilities. Familiarity with web writing best practices including metadata, tagging and SEO. Excellent strategic brainstorming, campaign development and creative execution. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload. Desire to learn and apply skills in a dynamic, multidisciplinary design environment.
