Job Description:
You will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and architectures that support mission-driven analytics and digital services across the public sector. Your work will empower operational efficiency, transparency, and strategic insights through reliable data systems that serve Veterans, government agencies, and communities. From ingesting diverse datasets to implementing scalable storage and transformation solutions, you’ll play a critical role in advancing data accessibility and informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, AWS Glue etc.
- Design scalable data models and optimize database performance.
- Collaborate with analytics, DevOps, and product teams to align data flows with operational and reporting needs.
- Implement secure data handling practices in accordance with compliance frameworks (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Support cloud-based data warehousing solutions for structured and unstructured datasets.
- Monitor pipeline health and ensure high data quality and availability.
- Develop documentation, SOPs, and automated monitoring dashboards to promote transparency and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend development.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and data orchestration tools.
- Experience with AWS cloud platforms, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Familiarity with data security standards, encryption, and role-based access controls.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-volume environments.
- Clear communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to obtain a Position of Trust and pass a government background check, including fingerprinting.
