ESL Teacher
Job Summary:
The 35 hours a week ESL Teacher will be responsible for teaching an in-person Intermediate Work English class to adult basic education students at Hmong Cultural Center (HCC). Hmong Cultural Center is a member of the Saint Paul Community Literacy Consortium (SPCLC).
Responsibilities:
- Teaching an in-person Work-oriented ESL class four days a week using a set curriculum to refugee and immigrant adults with an emphasis on important skills embedded in the CASAS standards.
- Lesson planning
- Participating in local Adult Basic Education professional development opportunities.
- Outreach to recruit new students
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year experience teaching ESL or Functional Work English.
- Experience working with Immigrant/Refugee communities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience teaching ESL/ELL to adults.
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in North American English.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Schedule:
35 hours per week, In-Person Classroom instruction M-TH 9 :30 AM – 1:30 PM.
In addition, a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon ESL class 2:00-3:30 PM twice a month at an employer partner in Coon Rapids.
Salary: $20.00 per hour
Benefits: 1/2 reimbursement for individual health insurance premiums.
