What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Administrator position at Hoar?
The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware (servers) and software. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This position is also responsible for the backup, replication, DR, and health of these various systems. This includes the daily monitoring of security, health, capacity, and environmental conditions of the servers. In this role you may be required to travel up to 5% of the time.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and locations.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Participate in the implementation of new systems performing installation and configuration.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in system administration in Windows Server OS, Azure AD, Azure Cloud Computing, Sharepoint, and Microsoft platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (AD and GPO)
- Knowledge of virtualization and consolidation methods, SAN, VM
- Knowledge of backup replication software and scripting
- Knowledge of Proofpoint, CrowdStrike, Defender and other security platforms
- Knowledge of MS Intune, DLP, Data Governance, MAM
