We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our busy Human Resources department in our Buffalo office. In this role, you will carry out a number of tasks to support the processing of the firm’s biweekly payroll and twice-monthly distribution schedules, including reviewing electronic timesheet entries, proofing data, preparation of the deduction summary and detail pay register, and processing of checks for garnishments. You will support our benefits function by facilitating benefit enrollment and processing paperwork. You will also be responsible for reviewing, reconciling, and processing monthly benefit invoices, as well as interfacing with vendors to resolve issues with invoices. You will act as the point-of-contact for payroll and benefit queries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree in business administration, accounting computer applications, social sciences or a related field preferred.
- Three years’ experience in an administrative role in a professional office environment. Accounting, benefits and/or payroll experience preferred.
- Commensurate combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Competent in the full range of computer software related to the position including time management system (preferred) and MSOffice suite.
- Customer focused, able to demonstrate specific instances of extraordinary client service, including identifying and anticipating needs, delivering to expectations and follow through.
- A strong attention to detail and ability for spotting and correcting errors in text or number sequences, together with a commitment to producing work that is accurate the first time.
- A high level of dependability in completing assigned tasks and in following through on assignments.
- Comfort in dealing appropriately with highly confidential information.
- Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment where team members support and learn from each other.
- Effective in juggling multiple priorities in order to ensure timely delivery on all commitments.
