Laundry Attendant Job Description
Position Summary: As the Laundry Attendant, you are responsible for the hotel’s laundry room and linen storage areas. Along with your immediate supervisors, you are responsible for the care of linens, supplies, and laundry equipment. You must perform
all laundry duties in accordance with the Company policies and procedures.
Reports to: The Executive Housekeeper is your immediate supervisor. In the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, the General Manager is your immediate supervisor. In the absence of your immediate supervisors, the Regional Manager assigned
to the hotel is available to answer questions.
Essential Functions:

1. Offers courteous and sincere hospitality at all times. Understands what is meant by “good guest service”. (Provides the public with uniform, consistent, efficient, courteous, high-quality service in addition to a clean hotel and grounds.
2. Answers questions about the hotel and community, is knowledgeable about the location of attractions, restaurants and shopping, and answers complaints or concerns by the guests.
3. Is part of the hotel’s security team and is responsible for reporting any potential safety or security hazards to immediate supervisor.
4. Removes linens from laundry chute and places the soiled linen in laundry cart. You control the weight of the linen by the quantity you remove each time.
5. Removes linens from laundry cart.
6. Sorts linens and identifies linens for special treatment as required by Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures (BBP).
7. Checks all linens for stains before washing; pre-spot or soak, if needed. Treats and soaks stained linens as needed.
8. Any linens stained, worn, and in need of repair that would not be suitable for guest rooms should be set aside for review by your immediate supervisor.
9. Washes linens:
a. Includes sheets, towels, pillow cases, duvets, mattress pads, shower curtains and wash rags.
b. Takes linen from the bottom of the laundry cart and loads the appropriate amount of linens in the washer,
according to the Company requirements and load charts provided by the manufacturer.
10. Completes rewash process if needed, to prevent linen repurchasing.
11. Dries washed linens:
a. Removes wet linens from washer and loads into clean linen laundry cart.
b. Pulls or pushes laundry cart containing wet linens, from washer to dryer.
c. Takes wet linens from laundry cart and loads into dryer. You control the weight of the wet linens by the quantity you remove each time.
d. Places the proper amount of wet linens in the dryer, according to the Company and manufacturer's instructions.
e. Operates dyer controls, setting controls for the type of linen, according to the Company and manufacturer's instructions.
12. Folds and stores dry linens.
a. Includes sheets, towels, pillow cases, duvet, mattress pads, shower curtains, rags.
13. Stores clean, folded linens by placing on appropriate shelves.
14. Reports any supplies needed for the laundry to immediate supervisor.
15. Responsible for daily care of laundry equipment.
a. Cleans washers and dryers as necessary.
b. Cleans lint from washers and dryers daily, more often if necessary.
c. Keeps lint from gathering around dryer drum.
d. Cleans behind equipment weekly.
e. Polishes the front of all equipment daily.
16. Reports to immediate supervisor any repairs or maintenance needed for the laundry area and equipment. Keeps laundry area and equipment in safe and good working condition.
17. Keeps laundry room clean at all times.
a. Cleans sinks.
b. Wipes down counters and tables.
c. Cleans windows as needed.
d. Cleans employee restroom.
e. Sweeps and mop floors.
f. Empties trash.
18. Checks and cleans washer drain daily to preventing plugging.
19. Closes and secures latches on all laundry chute doors.
20. Complies with BBP, OSHA, and Hazcomm 2012 standards. Knows the potential hazards of any chemicals used and the proper personal protective equipment required. Uses personal protective equipment as directed by Safety Data Sheets.

To perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms heights up to 72 inches. The employee is required to
frequently walk up and down stairs, bend to the floor, lift, push and pull weights up to 100 pounds.
Other Duties:
1. Keeps linen storage areas stocked with linens at all times and locked.
2. Helps strip linens from guest rooms as needed.
3. Inventories linens and laundry supplies, if assigned.
4. Performs any additional duties that, from time to time, may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
5. Completes all on-going required trainings and certifications, and trainings suggested by the General Manager or Brand Standards.
