Job Title: Solution Architect – Snowflake
Duration: 6 Months Contract-to-Hire
Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite in Dublin, CA
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect (Snowflake) to play a critical role in building a Single Version of Truth (SVT) data platform. This role will help establish Snowflake as the enterprise target data platform as the organization migrates from Netezza to Snowflake (lift-and-shift initially, followed by modernization).
This architect will be involved from day one of all Data & Analytics initiatives across the organization, helping define the right data architecture, modeling standards, governance practices, and business-facing analytics framework.
This is a high-impact role with long-term growth potential toward a Principal Architect position.
Project Details
- SVT (Single Version of Truth) initiative using a Medallion Architecture
- Migration from Netezza → Snowflake
- Data ingestion via StreamSets
- Transformations using dbt
- Reporting and analytics with MicroStrategy & Power BI
- Data modeling using SQL / DB modeling tools
- Data governance via Alation (nice to have)
The goal is to build a new, correct, scalable framework that supports enterprise-wide business domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and guide Snowflake architecture best practices across the organization
- Act as a trusted advisor between IT, Data, Analytics, and Business stakeholders
- Participate in end-to-end solution design, from data ingestion to published business datasets
- Design and implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) data models
- Create business use cases and translate them into data models and dashboards
- Support and guide the creation of business-facing dashboards and analytics
- Provide hands-on guidance and quick POCs to validate architectural approaches
- Ensure proper implementation of Snowflake security concepts (roles, access control, data sharing, etc.)
- Collaborate closely with SI partners, architects, and internal engineering teams
- Drive architectural conversations, influence decisions, and align teams on best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- Senior-level Solution Architect experience (data-focused), with potential to grow into Principal level
- Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture and design
- Deep understanding of Medallion Architecture and data modeling patterns
- Experience modeling complex business domains (e.g., Customer Loyalty, HR, Finance, etc.)
- Strong SQL and data modeling experience
- Hands-on experience with dbt for transformations
- Experience supporting BI tools such as Power BI and/or MicroStrategy
- Python development experience for quick POCs and architectural validation
- Ability to read, understand, and guide code (not just high-level design)
- Strong understanding of data security, governance, and access patterns in Snowflake
- Excellent communication skills — able to drive conversations, influence stakeholders, and defend architectural decisions
Nice to Have
- Experience in Retail data environments
- Exposure to Alation or similar data governance tools
- Experience working with StreamSets or other ingestion frameworks
