  • Implement policy, establish procedures and develop personnel in keeping with Corporate objectives.
  • Maintain operational and administrative compliance with regulations imposed by state gaming authorities and the U.S. Treasury.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls for all systems related to safeguarding Company assets in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Analyze and monitor department procedures to ensure efficiency.
  • Prepare and review internal control procedures; maintain internal control documentation.
  • Maintain close working relationships with all operational departments.
  • Issue written and verbal instructions.
  • Develop and lead a high-performance team to include at least one internal successor to the Revenue Audit Assist Manger role.
  • Manage and lead the activities of the revenue audit team to ensure quality.
  • Supervises and manages staff who are responsible for the Accounting function including, but not limited to, payroll, accounts payable, inventory control, recording of revenue and expenses, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset activity, inventory, etc. Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
  • Review daily audits/summaries to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as adherence by audit staff to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of audit programs to ensure accuracy and completeness of the financial statements.
  • Coordinate annual budgeting process and requests for capital expenditures to ensure the adequacy and reasonableness of resource allocation.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure consistency with Company objectives.
  • Maintain daily communication with managers on matters of staffing, work improvements, overall performance of each operating area, changes in internal control procedures, and any current concerns/challenges.
  • Monitor compliance with U.S. Treasury regulations regarding Currency Transaction Reporting by Casinos (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Reporting by Casinos (SARC) and Currency Transactions reported on IRS Form 8300.
  • Coordinate submission of requested information for audits by outside public accountants, the Maryland Gaming Board, and taxing authorities.
  • Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.
  • Provide professional representation at internal and external meetings and events.
  • Demonstrate ethical behaviors and decisions in keeping with Responsible Gaming and Code of Conduct commitments.
  • Ensure interactions with internal and external guests follow the guidelines of the Customer Service Program.
  • Performs other job-related duties as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.
  • Provides recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Manages work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).
  • Supervise total number of employees (1)
  • Supervise total number of employees indirectly (4)       

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BS degree in accounting or finance and five to six years related experience and/or training including a minimum of two years of managerial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be proficient with Excel and Word. 

Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act and PA Act 71 and its attendant regulations.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret routine business documents.  Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.  Must be very detailed oriented.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must qualify for licensing by the Maryland Gaming Commission

Essential duties involve physical exertion: prolonged periods of standing and walking, occasional prolonged periods of sitting, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, and standing with standard breaks.  Essential duties may require lifting 35 to 50 pounds of related general office supplies and equipment.

Working with large numbers of people while primarily in an inside environment, which is frequently loud or containing high noise levels.  Some inside locations are heavily filled with cigarette smoke. Occasional work will be performed in a general office environment which is not subject to extreme temperature changes or adverse weather conditions.
