MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The primary job duties this position is responsible for achieving are listed in order of importance.
Reporting to the Manager, demonstrates proficiency in the performance of Electrocardiograms (EKG’s) and the set-up of Holster Monitors to assigned age specific patient population (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) and participates in related continuing education.
Position Summary :
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing EKG tests in a timely and competent manner, making adjustments to level placement based on age, size, and specific anatomy of patient.
- Ability to identify abnormalities or changes in patient’s EKGs and to notify the Nurse or physician assigned to that patient.
- Ability to ensure completion of all pre-op EKGs and to have reports available to physician prior to the patient’s surgery.
- Demonstrates proficiency to properly set-up and instruct patients for Holster Monitoring.
- Schedules patients for diagnostic procedures, and maintains all required department logs and records per department protocol.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values / readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and / or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. - Ensures the proper billing of all procedures in a timely manner.
- Responds immediately to any emergency, and all stat calls, within the hospital.
- Demonstrates ability to interrelate on a routine level with patients, families, and other guests while exhibiting tact, friendliness, and caring, while accounting for the age specific needs of each patient.
