Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Tech Lead to manage and oversee the technical architecture, deployment, and operation of our advanced video broadcast and IP transmission infrastructure. This is a critical leadership position requiring residency in the South Florida area.

The ideal candidate will possess deep, hands-on expertise across both traditional satellite RF systems and modern IP-based media transport technologies. 🔑 Key Responsibilities

As the Tech Lead, you will be instrumental in maintaining the high quality of our global broadcast systems, while leading a team and driving innovation:

  • System Architecture & Deployment: Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of complex broadcast and IP video transport systems.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to engineering and operations teams.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Act as the primary technical escalation point for critical system issues, ensuring high availability and performance across all platforms.
  • Optimization: Propose and implement solutions for optimizing video encoding, transmission quality, and network efficiency.
💻 Required Technical Expertise (Systems & Software)

The successful candidate must have demonstrable working experience with the following systems and technologies:

I. Video Encoding and Management
  • Harmonic and Coding or Transmission Equipment: Deep familiarity with Harmonic platforms and other professional coding/transmission devices including NMX.
  • NMX Suite Software: Expert proficiency in utilizing the NMX Suite software for network and element management of broadcast equipment.
  • FFmpeg: Extensive experience with FFmpeg for video transcoding, format manipulation, and stream processing, including familiarity with other commercially available software used in media processing.
II. Operating Systems and Infrastructure
  • Linux: Strong command-line skills and advanced administration experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Linux Distributions: Specific experience with Ubuntu and enterprise-level distributions such as CentOS (or equivalent RHEL derivatives like Rocky Linux or AlmaLinux).
  • Networking Hardware: Practical experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Enterprise level Switches and Routers, including familiarity with their respective operating systems.
III. Media Transport Protocols
  • IP-based Transport Protocols: Comprehensive knowledge of various Internet-based transport protocols used for reliable, low-latency video and audio transmission.
  • Specific Protocols: Hands-on experience with:
  • SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) 
  • Zixi 
  • RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport) 
  • Broadcast/IP Convergence: Expertise in Broadcast technologies and IP-based transport of video/audio.
IV. Satellite & RF Systems
  • RF Fundamentals: Strong understanding of the RF side of the workflow, particularly in satellite communications.
  • Satellite Equipment: Experience with key satellite hardware components:
  • Newtech Modulators 
  • LNB (Low-Noise Block Downconverter) 
  • Satellite Tracking Systems 
  • Physical devices used in the broadcast room for satellite broadcast (e.g., upconverters, HPAs, IRDs) 
📍 Location Requirement

This is an office position based in Miami. Candidates must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the South Florida area immediately upon hiring
