Apprentice Meat Cutter

Located in Shelton, near the Little Creek Casino, Home Meat Service provides Custom Cutting and Wrapping of meat for local ranchers and hunters, as well as selling meat in a retail setting. Home Meat Service is currently looking to train an apprentice Meat Cutter in our retail department in the critical skills of identifying cuts of meat, cutting meat for the retail case, and maintaining a high quality product for the customer. This position requires an attention to detail, good communication with team members, an ability to learn quickly and follow directions, ability to stand for the majority of a shift, finger dexterity, and a positive attitude. Previous experience is preferred, but not required.

Requirements:

· Work varied hours between 6:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday and Saturday’s 7:00am to 4:00pm

· Maintain a friendly, positive attitude, and maintain composure with customers and co-workers

· Identify, cut, and appropriately label various meat products

· Properly handle related food products in accordance with State and County laws

· Read and follow written or verbal work assignments and instructions

· Communicate (hearing and speech) with team members

· Stand, reach, twist, bend, and turn frequently for long periods of time

· Ability to reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions frequently between 20-50 lbs.

· Push and pull loaded carts

· Perform safe and efficient movements related to wrapping and equipment

· Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, divide, and multiply)

· Work with hands exposed to moisture related to poultry and meat

· Wear gloves, hairnets, and other personal protective equipment as required

· Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy

· After hire, ability to obtain a Food Handlers Certification

Machines and Equipment Operated:

· Scales, knives, slicers, cubers, hand carts, grinders, and stuffers

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour
