What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist position at Home of the Innocents?
The primary purpose of the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist position is to support the facilitation of quality management and performance improvement processes for the organization, by serving as a clinical subject matter expert (SME) for residential treatment & emergency shelter and all behavioral health services clinical quality, in order to ensure the highest quality of care for residents, clients, service recipients, patients, and organizational adherence to clinical best practices and regulatory requirements.

- Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for behavioral health services and residential treatment & emergency shelter clinical quality improvement and engages in practices to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risk for direct care service delivery areas. (Daily/Ongoing)
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting clinical oversight reviews for all behavioral health and residential services on an ongoing basis to evaluate the quality, necessity, and effectiveness of services provided, and ensure compliance with regulatory, billing, and/or contractual documentation requirements. (Monthly)
- Responsible for identifying areas in need of plans for excellence and/or corrective action and management of associated action plans. (As Needed)
- Responsible for data collection and analysis related to quality monitoring activities, preparation of summary reports, and presentation of findings to applicable committees (i.e., Quality Improvement Committee, Corporate Compliance Committee, Service Recipient Quality Advisory Council, Risk Management Committee, etc.). (Quarterly)
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating educational and training activities for clinicians regarding medical necessity, clinical best practices, and clinical documentation standards. (Monthly)
- Works collaboratively with behavioral health and residential leadership and team members to identify areas in need of additional clinical and trauma informed education/training and facilitates such training. (As Needed)
- Provides assistance with quality-of-care reviews/investigations, as needed, including preparation of investigative summaries to be reported to the Corporate Compliance Committee. (As needed)
- Participates in activities to support accreditation readiness, assists with compilation of required evidence, and participates in the site survey process. (As Needed)
- Participated in activities to support sanctuary certification readiness, assists with compilation of required evidence for QICC, behavioral health, and residential, and participates in the site survey process. (As Needed)
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Quality & Compliance Officer (CQCO). (As Needed)
- Master’s degree in a service field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.) is required.
- Professional licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, etc.) in the state of Kentucky is required.
- A minimum of three to five years providing clinical behavioral health services is required.
- A minimum of two to three years providing clinical training/education related to medical necessity and/or clinical best practices is required.
- A minimum of one to two years of experience participating in clinical oversight audits/medical record reviews.
- A minimum of one year’s experience performing duties related to performance/quality improvement, patient safety/risk management, compliance, and/or accreditation is required.
- Intermediate experience with technical programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word,
- PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
- Ability to maintain objectivity in decision-making, maintain strict confidentiality related to client/patient care and/or other sensitive matters, and work independently.
- Works in office areas, moves intermittently throughout the facility, and is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Work hours are flexible and may extend into evenings and weekends if necessary.
- Occasional travel may be required for off campus direct care service sites, training, conferences, or other professional development opportunities.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Salary : $74,000 - $82,000
