About Homeless Children’s Network

Homeless Children's Network (HCN) works to address two needs: first, the traumatic effects of homelessness and violence in the lives of young children and their families; and second, to establish a “standard of care” across a variety of shelters and housing programs. Working directly with the community, we help children and families address the root traumas that helped shape their worldviews, explore healthier perspectives, and learn practical non-violent skill sets for managing stress. We do this through comprehensive mental health services, case management, family education and support services, and community leadership.

About the Quality Assurance Associate Position

The QA Associate assists the QA Director in determining client eligibility for Medi-Cal/EPSDT services, tracking clinical chart completion and due dates, and working with individual clinicians to answer ad hoc questions, correct errors, improve documentation quality and to ensure the accuracy of data entry.

  • Providing training to staff and interns on documentation standards and best practices, including contributing to and updating the clinical training manual.
  • Ongoing chart review, both paper and electronic records in AVATAR, to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal and internal standards, including providing feedback on chart corrections and growth points to staff, supervisors, and directors
  • Input accurate and timely updates to internal monitoring systems (e.g. tracking for chart reviews, pending documentation corrections, clinician caseloads)
  • Generate operational reports from Avatar, in absence of the QA Director (e.g. units of service reports, error reports, caseload reports)
  • Attendance at internal staff meetings and monthly SFDPH meetings/trainings
  • Weekly department meeting with QA Director and other QA staff.
  • Weekly Program Utilization Review and Quality Control (PURQC) Committee meeting with QA Director and other QA staff.
