They have a warm, friendly, and personable demeanor. They are team players, excellent communicators, and keep their composure when working with frustrated guests.
A Host at Smith is highly organized to properly maintain seating charts and seat customers in the order of arrival or by reservation. They hold themselves with confidence as the face of the restaurant, and first point of contact for all guests. They will work closely with their teammates by communicating powerfully to ensure a smooth operation and enjoyable experience for guests. Commitment, enthusiasm, integrity, humility, sense of team, and grace under pressure are required.
Accountabilities include
- Welcome guests to the venue
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
- Manage reservations
- Escort guests to assigned dining or bar areas
- Looking and being the part, follows dress code and has a professional, sleek appearance
- Provide menus and announce server’s name
- Assisting teammates with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, and napkins
- Coordinate with team about available seating options
- Maintain an impeccable reception area
- Cater to guests who require extra attention
- Answer incoming calls and address guest questions
- Assist teammates as needed
- Informing teammates about guest feedback or requests
- Clock in and out for every shift at kiosk terminal
