Job Title: Crisis Intervention Specialist
Overview:
AHOPE Day Center is the front door to our agency and to the community’s homeless service system.
AHOPE provides basic services (showers, mail, phone, storage) and staff that work to build relationships
that lead people out of homelessness and into permanent housing.
The Crisis Intervention Specialist ensures that AHOPE is a safe place for anyone in the community. The
CIS works together with case managers to ensure that clients follow posted rules and works to diffuse
any potentially dangerous situations before they begin. The CIS uses observation and de-escalation to
help maintain AHOPE as a safe space for all clients. The CIS is the point of contact for emergency
services and is responsible for notifying emergency services that their service is required.



Schedule and compensation: full-time, approximately 34 hours/week, non-exempt, hourly
compensation. $20.10 hourly


Responsibilities:


  • The Crisis Intervention Specialist seeks out potentially dangerous or unsafe clients/situations and works in partnership with case management to diffuse/de-escalate them before they become a larger matter.

  • The CIS patrols the interior and exterior of the day center during business hours, making sure that clients are following rules and no prohibited or illegal activity is occurring.

  • The CIS completes activity and incident reports at the end of each shift, as well as maintaining a database of all reports

  • The CIS secures the building at the end of each business day.

  • The ability to be empathetic and to speak comfortably with individuals from all walks of life is an important part of the position.

  • A strong working knowledge of computers and software such as Microsoft Office and Box, as well as the ability to operate and monitor surveillance software.
